In case you haven’t heard of it, AWP is a major conference and bookfair that focuses on small journals and presses, writing programs, and literary communities. It’s a huge event, the largest in the country, drawing upwards of 15,000–20,000 writers a year. This year AWP took place in San Antonio, Texas one day before the city declared a public health emergency because of Coronavirus. And I went, on crutches and with a wheelchair.
